About the McGill University Entrance Bursary

The Entrance Bursary Program provides financial assistance to new undergraduate students at McGill University who require extra support to cover tuition and living expenses. It aims to make McGill more accessible by supplementing funding from other sources such as:

  • Government student aid
  • Indigenous Band Support Funding
  • Parental or personal contributions
  • Part-time work

Award amounts vary based on each student’s financial situation and the tuition fee associated with their program. A limited number of bursaries are renewable for up to four years, provided students maintain financial need and meet academic standards.


Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the McGill Entrance Bursary, applicants must:

  • Be admitted to a full-time undergraduate degree program at McGill University.
  • Demonstrate financial need (including a plan to apply for government or Indigenous financial support).
  • Students with disabilities registered through McGill’s Student Accessibility & Achievement office may also qualify while studying part-time.

How to Apply for the McGill Entrance Bursary 2025

Once you receive your official acceptance letter from McGill (available on your Applicant Portal), follow these steps:

Step 1: Apply via Minerva

  • Go to: Financial Aid/Awards tab > Financial Aid Menu > Apply for a McGill Entrance Bursary
  • Complete and submit the bursary application form.

Step 2: Submit a CSS Financial Aid Profile (if applicable)

Required for:

  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents living outside Canada
  • U.S. students
  • Non-U.S. international students
