This is your opportunity to enrol in top-tier PhD, Master’s, and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programmes across various disciplines.
General Admission Requirements
PhD Programmes
To qualify for a PhD programme at FUTMINNA, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Master’s degree from FUTMINNA or any other recognized university.
- Maintain a minimum weighted score average of 60%, a ‘B’ grade, or a CGPA of 3.50 out of 5.00.
- Some candidates may be required to take additional courses based on their academic background.
Master’s Degree Programmes
Applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- A minimum of a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree from a recognized university.
- A Third Class Honours degree with at least two years of relevant experience (some departments may require a qualifying examination).
- HND holders with a minimum of Lower Credit and a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in a relevant field with at least Lower Credit and one year of graduation experience.
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes
- Candidates with a Third Class Honours degree in relevant fields.
- HND holders with a minimum of Lower Credit and at least one year of graduation experience.
Important Notes:
- NYSC certificate or exemption letter is required for admission.
- Candidates with a PASS grade at any level do not qualify for admission.
- Master’s degree students must maintain a CGPA of 2.50 each semester to continue in the programme.
Duration of Programmes
PhD Programme
- Full-time: Minimum of 6 semesters (3 years), maximum of 10 semesters (5 years).
- Part-time: Minimum of 10 semesters (5 years), maximum of 14 semesters (7 years).
Master’s Degree Programmes
- Full-time only: Minimum of 3 semesters (1.5 years), maximum of 6 semesters (3 years).
PGD Programmes
- Full-time: Minimum of 3 semesters (1.5 years), maximum of 6 semesters (3 years).

Application Process
- The online application form will be accessible from Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
- Ensure all required information is provided correctly, including a valid email and phone number.
- Submit your completed application online before the deadline on March 31st, 2025.
- Print your completed application form for future reference.
- PhD and Master’s applicants must forward official transcripts to: The Secretary, Postgraduate School, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State.

- Candidates must ensure their referees submit online reference reports before the deadline.
Application Fees
- Application Fee: ₦15,000 (plus applicable service charges).
- Payments must be made online via Remita using a MasterCard or Verve card.
Acceptance & Registration
- Successful candidates must pay a non-refundable acceptance fee of ₦20,000.
- Registration includes credential screening at the Postgraduate School and department-level registration.
- Admission is forfeited if registration is not completed within the stipulated time.
