About UBC Scholarships for International Students
UBC allocates over $30 million annually to support international undergraduate students through various scholarships and awards. These include:

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for these UBC scholarships, applicants must:
- Be new to UBC, enrolling directly from secondary school or post-secondary (college/university).
- Hold international student status and require a Canadian study permit (student visa).
- Demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and strong extracurricular participation.
- Not be nominated for the International Scholars Award (for IMES & OIS awards).
Selection Process:
UBC evaluates applicants based on:

Scholarship recipients are selected after admission decisions, with notifications sent between mid-March and the end of April.

Scholarship Benefits:
The UBC scholarships provide financial support as follows:
- IMES Scholarship: Up to $10,000 – $20,000 per year (renewable for 3 years).
- OIS Award: One-time award of $10,000 – $25,000.
- UBC Okanagan International Welcome Award: $5,000.
Scholarship Duration:
- IMES: Renewable for up to three additional years, subject to maintaining eligibility.
- OIS: A one-time entrance scholarship.
